As their family continues to grow, the owners of this Grindelwald home wanted to create a space that would grow with them — providing room for the everyday moments of family life, while also offering flexibility.
The existing garage presented an opportunity to extend the home and transform an under-utilised space into something meaningful and functional for the family. Raising the garage roof to meet current standards allowed the space to be thoughtfully reimagined, making room for two additional bedrooms, a powder room and a flexible sitting area that can also become a guest room when needed.
A connecting link, designed as part of the architect’s plans, brings the new spaces together with the existing home, creating a natural connection between old and new. The result is an extension that gives the family more room to live, relax and welcome loved ones, while providing the flexibility to adapt as their needs change over the years.
